We're excited to be kicking off a series of interviews with a cool parent each week. Our founder and CEO, Laramie Mergerson, agreed to be the guinea pig for this new feature. He has a 9-year-old son named Tre, who was actually the inspiration for Dangle. You can find Laramie at @DangleCEO on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat. He posts some pretty entertaining stuff, as well as exclusive Dangle content, so give him a follow!

Me: What kind of activities does your son participate in?

LM: Varied, but mostly sports. Football, basketball, baseball, and we're looking at lacrosse. We're super busy.

Me: What do you find to be the most challenging aspect of being a parent?

LM: The most challenging thing about being a parent is making sure you're setting your kids up for success and I think that's in all aspects. Everything you do is working toward that goal and it’s something that's always on your mind.

Me: What do you find to be the most rewarding aspect of being a parent?

LM: Definitely the most rewarding thing about being a parent is seeing your kid grow up each and every day and learn and pick up new stuff. Seeing them mature over time - sometimes they still act immature but just their growth is something that you can't really quantify. That's definitely the thing I enjoy most.

Me: There are positive and negative opinions regarding children using technology at an early age. What do you think?

LM: I think using technology at an early age is good. The world has kind of changed over the past 15 years so I think you're doing your kid a disservice if they're not using technology. They're using it in classrooms daily, so they’re either going to get it at home or in school. You might as well have them prepared.

Me: What does a typical Saturday night at home look like for you?

LM: Right now we're watching Netflix. Mainly Arrow and Flash because we both love DC comics, so it's pretty nerdy sometimes. That's what we're doing.

Me: Thanks for kicking off our interview series!

LM: No problem. I always enjoy hearing myself talk.
